By mnbbs.net

In an effort to inspire creativity and self-expression among young Chinese-American students, the World Journal and Weisong Company have announced a painting competition set for 2024. This event invites children and teenagers under the age of 16 from across the United States to unleash their artistic talents. This year’s theme is “The Dining Table Kingdom,” encouraging participants to transform the dining table into a fantastical realm through their artwork, showcasing the wonderful stories behind ingredients and tableware. Through this process, children not only express their love for food but also deepen their understanding of family values. Each painting serves as a window into the magical narratives surrounding their dining experiences, turning every family meal into a cherished memory. The organizers hope that this competition will ignite the imagination and creativity of students as they take flight at the dining table.

The competition will be divided into five age categories: 6-7 years (aged 6 to under 8), 8-9 years (aged 8 to under 10), 10-11 years (aged 10 to under 12), 12-13 years (aged 12 to under 14), and 14-16 years (aged 14 to under 17).

Participants are required to design their artwork on an 11-inch by 14-inch or 14-inch by 11-inch piece of drawing paper. Submissions can be made both online and offline, with a strong encouragement for participants to use the online submission system. Detailed instructions are available on the official event website: bit.ly/wcwj24. For those opting for physical submissions, please include personal information (name, date of birth, contact number, mailing address, and age group) on the back of the artwork. Entries must be sent to the New York World Journal Events Team (141-07 20th Ave, Floor 2, Whitestone, NY 11357) by November 6, 2024. Late submissions will not be accepted. If artworks need to be returned, participants must provide a stamped return envelope.

To reward outstanding participants, the organizers will also offer cash prizes and certificates for exceptional performances. The top three winners in each group will receive a beautiful medal, with the first-place winner earning $200, second place $160, and third place $120. Honorable mentions will be awarded $60 each. The final submission deadline is November 6, 2024 (Wednesday), and the results along with the winning works will be published in the World Journal at the beginning of December 2024 and displayed on the event’s official website.
