Liam Payne’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy says they had planned to marry before singer’s death
In a recent emotional Instagram tribute, Kate Cassidy, the girlfriend of former One Direction star Liam Payne, spoke about the profound impact of his passing at the age of 31. In her heartfelt message, she expressed, “I’ve lost the best part of myself,” highlighting the deep void his death has left in her life.
According to a postmortem examination, Payne tragically died due to multiple traumas and internal and external hemorrhage after an incident at the Casa Sur hotel in Buenos Aires, where emergency services found him deceased on the scene. His body has since been taken to the judicial morgue for further investigation.
Reflecting on their last moments together, Cassidy recounted how just weeks before his death, they had been envisioning their future. She shared a note from Payne that she holds dear, which read, “Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged & together forever 444.” This sentiment underscores their hopes and dreams for a life together, a future that now feels bittersweet.
In her tribute, Cassidy poured out her feelings: “I don’t even know where to begin. My heart is shattered in ways I can’t put into words. You brought so much happiness and positivity to everyone – millions of fans, your family, friends, and especially me. You are so incredibly loved.” She continued, expressing her disbelief and grief: “None of this feels real, and I can’t wrap my head around this new reality of not having you here.”
Cassidy reminisced about the joy they found in the smallest moments together, describing Liam as someone with a “kind soul” and a “fun-loving spirit.” She stated, “It feels like I’ve lost the best part of myself.” The couple had shared many dreams, but now Cassidy said, “I know we’ll be together forever, but not in the way we had planned. I’ve gained a guardian angel.”
Since the news of Payne’s death, tributes have surged in from across the music industry, including heartfelt messages from his former partner Cheryl, his One Direction bandmates, and music mogul Simon Cowell. The band members – Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, and Harry Styles – expressed their devastation in a joint statement, saying they will miss Liam “terribly” and that the memories they created together will always be cherished.
Liam Payne first rose to fame when Simon Cowell assembled him and his bandmates on the ITV talent show The X Factor in 2010. Despite his incredible success, Payne has previously spoken about his struggles with alcoholism during the band’s peak years.
As Cassidy continues to navigate life without him, she emphasized, “I will love you for the rest of my life and beyond, carrying our dreams and memories with me everywhere I go.”
