Madugu Excited with All Invited Falcons Available for First Training
Super Falcons Head Coach Justine Madugu expressed his excitement on Tuesday about having all 25 invited players already gathered in camp. The team was gearing up for their first training session at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos as they prepare for two upcoming international friendlies against Algeria’s senior women’s national team.
“I’m thrilled that all the players have arrived. We’ll have four full days to train and get in great shape for our first game,” Madugu stated. “I want to thank the Nigeria Football Federation for arranging these important matches for the Super Falcons.”
Unfortunately, heavy rainfall in Lagos yesterday forced the team to cancel their training session, leading them to return to Eko Hotel & Towers for alternative gym workouts.
The nine-time African champions are set to take on the Algerian squad at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Saturday, October 26, followed by a rematch at the same venue on Tuesday, October 29. Both games are scheduled to kick off at 4 PM.
A delegation of 35 from Algeria is expected to arrive in Nigeria tomorrow morning via Qatar Airways, along with match officials from the Benin Republic.
The quartet of officials, including Aurore Christine Ligan, Nafissatou Yekini Shitou, Sonia Emilie Louis, and Laurande Offin, will officiate the two matches. Ligan will serve as the referee for the first match with Offin as the fourth official, while Offin will take center stage in the second match, with Ligan again serving as the fourth official. The Nigeria Football Federation will also appoint a match commissioner for each game.
