The Chinese Consulate General in Kota Kinabalu handled its first overseas remote video notarization
On October 18, a report from the Chinese Consulate in Kota Kinabalu revealed that it successfully conducted its first remote video notarization overseas on October 16.
In this innovative process, Mr. Ouyang, who is working in Sabah, connected via video with a notary officer from the Beijing Chang’an Notary Office, with the support and witnessing of consulate staff. The procedure included identity verification, confirmation of intentions, and the checking and signing of documents both online and offline, which collectively facilitated the notarization of a vehicle inheritance delegation.
The consulate noted that the entire remote video notarization process was seamless and rigorously conducted, taking less than 30 minutes to complete. This initiative aligns with their goal of minimizing travel for citizens while utilizing digital solutions to enhance efficiency.
The consulate emphasized that the implementation of remote video notarization is a significant measure in line with the directives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as it reflects the principles of Xi Jinping’s diplomatic thoughts and a people-centered development approach. Additionally, this service is part of their “Internet + Consul” initiative. Moving forward, the consulate aims to streamline procedures and improve service quality, truly embodying their commitment to serving the community and ensuring that diplomacy benefits the people.
