On the afternoon of October 22, the 2024 Suqian “Cross-Border E-Commerce + Industrial Belt” Cooperation and Exchange Conference was successfully held, resulting in the signing of 19 cross-border e-commerce projects. These projects encompass the operation of cross-border e-commerce industrial parks, comprehensive services, and platform sellers, with an anticipated annual transaction volume of 1 billion yuan once implemented.
During the conference, Liu Hao, Vice Secretary of the Suqian Municipal Committee and Mayor, emphasized the city’s commitment to leveraging e-commerce as a vital driver for economic and social development. He stated that Suqian has made significant strides in enhancing its development advantages, improving urban functions, and cultivating new growth engines through e-commerce initiatives. As a result, Suqian has developed a reputation as a “City of E-Commerce,” which has become an essential part of its identity.
In recent years, Suqian has seen vibrant growth in cross-border e-commerce, creating new opportunities for local businesses to venture into international markets. Since being approved as a Comprehensive Pilot Zone for Cross-Border E-Commerce in April 2020, Suqian has established a robust ecosystem characterized by platform concentration, a diverse array of participants, efficient services, and a complete supply chain. Cross-border e-commerce companies have been gathering at an average annual rate exceeding 20%, while the annual transaction volume has grown by over 25%. Currently, an impressive 37 packages are dispatched globally every second. The Comprehensive Pilot Zone has ranked among the top two in national assessments for two consecutive years, and it is projected that the transaction volume will surpass 10 billion yuan by 2026.
This year, Suqian has continued to strengthen its focus on new cross-border e-commerce business models, emphasizing “one zone, one product.” The city has been dedicated to developing distinct industrial belts worth billions, featuring strong advantages in categories such as wooden products from Shuyang County, textiles and clothing from Siyang County and Suqian District, and auto parts from Sihong County. Moreover, it has nurtured over a hundred e-commerce and regional brands like “King Crab,” “Jiu Si Fresh,” and “Lotus Village,” aiming to incubate more than 50 cross-border e-commerce export brands annually.
Liu Hao remarked, “Suqian is actively nurturing high-quality e-commerce talent to empower industrial development. We have crafted a comprehensive and advantageous billion-yuan industrial belt for cross-border e-commerce and host various e-commerce brand activities at a high level, with significant annual success in brand incubation.” He noted that Suqian’s strong industrial foundation supports the growth of cross-border e-commerce, having established a “615” industrial system and implemented a “1+3” action plan for new productivity. With industrial output surpassing 500 billion yuan and experienced high export growth rates within Jiangsu Province, Suqian is well-positioned to promote the integrated development of “Cross-Border E-Commerce + Industrial Belt.”
