In a recent interview, we delved into the highly anticipated animated film, “New Big Head Son and Little Head Dad 6: Mini Adventure,” which premiered in Beijing on October 1st. This film, produced by the animation team at the China Central Radio and Television Corporation, marks the sixth installment of the beloved “Big Head Son” franchise.
The storyline invites viewers into a captivating micro-world filled with extraordinary adventures—think lizards as big as dinosaurs and chickens that can transform into fighter jets. This imaginative backdrop encourages the audience to appreciate the wonders of nature and the capabilities of artificial intelligence.
Director Liu Kexin articulated his vision for the film, highlighting themes of joy, exploration, warmth, and personal growth. “I hope parents can gain insight into their children’s inner lives from the kids’ perspectives and recognize their own roles in their children’s development,” he noted.
At the film’s premiere, singer Cai Guoqing and his son delivered a heartfelt performance of the theme song, “Big Hand Holding Little Hand,” which beautifully encapsulated the affection shared between parents and children navigating the delicate balance of holding on and letting go. Young performers from the CCTV Youth Art Troupe danced alongside beloved characters, enhancing the festive atmosphere. The event was hosted by well-known CCTV personalities, including Ju Ping, Xiao Lu, Huang Wei, and Chen Yi, who engaged the audience with lively interactions.
Following the screening, many young viewers shared their excitement, with comments like, “The animal army was awesome!” and “I want to go on a brave adventure with Little Lightning!” Parents also resonated with the film’s depiction of a friendship-based parent-child dynamic. One parent shared, “As parents, we always want what’s best for our kids, but this film made me realize that during their growth, we need to hold their hands while also learning to let go sometimes.” Another parent emphasized the significance of being in tune with their children’s emotions and fostering their ability to think independently, aiming to become close friends on this joyous journey.
