Giggling Elon Musk revisits ‘joke’ about Kamala Harris assassination

By mnbbs.net

In a recent interview with Tucker Carlson, Elon Musk described the idea of assassinating Vice President Kamala Harris as “pointless.” This comment follows shortly after Musk deleted a provocative social media post where he expressed surprise that no one had attempted to take out either Harris or President Biden.

During the nearly two-hour discussion on Musk’s platform, X, he reflected on his previous remarks, saying, “I made a joke, which I realized – I deleted – which is like: nobody’s even bothering to try to kill Kamala because it’s pointless. What do you achieve?” The comment drew laughter from both Carlson and Musk, with Carlson playfully adding, “It’s deep and true though.”

Musk continued, “Just buy another puppet,” and emphasized, “Nobody’s tried to kill Joe Biden. It’d be pointless.” Carlson quickly agreed, responding with “Totally.”

When asked for clarification on his earlier post, Musk addressed the interpretation that he was encouraging violent actions, noting, “Some people interpreted it as though I was calling for people to assassinate her, but… Does it seem strange that no one’s even bothered? Nobody tries to assassinate a puppet… She’s safe.” Carlson chimed in with a straight face, “That’s hilarious,” as Musk chuckled at the joke.

It’s important to note that authorities have made arrests concerning threats against both Harris and Biden. For example, a Virginia man was charged in August for threats directed at the Vice President.

Musk’s initial tweet came in the wake of a suspect being apprehended in a suspected assassination attempt on Donald Trump at a golf club in Florida. In that context, Musk posted, “And no one’s even trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala,” complete with a puzzled emoji.

Despite being a staunch Trump supporter, Musk’s remark faced backlash, leading him to delete the tweet. He explained, “Well, one lesson I’ve learned is that just because I say something to a group and they laugh doesn’t mean it’s going to be all that hilarious as a post on X. Turns out that jokes are WAY less funny if people don’t know the context and the delivery is plain text.”

As the interview progressed, Carlson jokingly warned Musk, “If he [Trump] loses man… you’re fucked, dude.” Musk laughed in response, admitting, “I’m fucked. If he loses, I’m fucked.” Amid the laughter, he pondered, “How long do you think my prison sentence is going to be? Will I see my children? I don’t know.”

Musk’s comments on political violence followed his recent appearance alongside Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, a location tied to a previous assassination attempt on the former president. Following that event, Musk expressed his endorsement of Trump and mentioned he would head a government efficiency commission should Trump return to office. The Secret Service is reportedly aware of Musk’s latest statements.
