Experts and scholars in Yudu, Jiangxi Province, discuss the inheritance of red genes
On October 18, 2024, the High-End Forum on the Transmission of Red Gene was held in Yudu County, Jiangxi Province. More than 230 experts and scholars from across the country’s theoretical and party history circles attended the event.
Co-hosted by the Jiangxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, the National Center for the Study of Red Gene Transmission, the Jiangxi Provincial Party History Research Office, the Jiangxi Academy of Social Sciences, and the Ganzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party, the forum aims to promote the spirit of the Long March, pass down the red gene, and draw strength for the development of revolutionary old areas.
Themed “Promoting the Spirit of the Long March and Advancing Along the New Long March Route,” the forum featured one main session along with four sub-forums focused on the history of the Long March, the transmission of its spirit, the protection and utilization of red resources along the route, and the development of red culture and journals.
At the forum, participants addressed various themes, including “The Contemporary Value of the Long March Spirit,” “Upholding the Fundamental Position of Putting People First,” “The Transmission and Promotion of the Great Spirit of the Long March,” “The Importance of Promoting the Long March Spirit in the New Era,” and “The Historical Significance and Cultural Legacy of the Long March,” delivering engaging keynote speeches.
Professor Qi Weiping, a lifelong scholar at East China Normal University, remarked that every detail, scene, figure, and action from the Long March conveys stories of respect and delivers inspiring positivity that motivates people to strive. He emphasized that the Long March spirit plays a crucial role in fostering a healthy social atmosphere and building a positive social ethos.
Professor Wang Binglin from Beijing Normal University highlighted the rich connotation of the Long March spirit, reflecting the loyalty, bravery, and resilience of the Communist Party of China. He noted that these qualities not only embody the party’s fine traditions and styles but also serve as an important spiritual pillar for continuing forward today.
In 1934, over 86,000 members of the Central Red Army set out from Yudu, Jiangxi, embarking on a grueling 25,000-mile journey that gave rise to the great Long March spirit.
