A fire broke out in a self-built house in Huainan, Anhui, killing 9 people_1
On October 19th, at 5:03 AM, emergency services in the Panji District of Huainan City, Anhui Province, received an alarming report about a fire at a self-built residence in Wangxu Village, Jiahua Town. Unfortunately, by 2:52 PM that same day, the rescue operations concluded with a tragic toll of 9 lives lost.
At around 3 PM, I visited the area where the incident occurred and observed that teams from emergency response, fire services, and law enforcement were beginning to withdraw from the scene.
The affected structure was a four-story residential building, with the top two floors completely consumed by flames and parts of the building having collapsed. Heavy machinery, including excavators, was stationed in front and behind the house, with charred wooden beams and shattered bricks scattered all around. The walls and ceilings of the home had caved in, exposing its framework.
According to Chen Huasheng, the director of the Panji District Emergency Management Bureau, local authorities mobilized multiple agencies, including firefighters and police, immediately after receiving reports from the public about the fire.
Currently, efforts are underway for both recovery operations and an investigation into the cause of the blaze.
