Guangzhou Maritime Department provides emergency rescue to crew member who suffered stroke
On October 21, authorities in Guangzhou reported a critical maritime rescue operation that took place near the Nanzhou floating dock under the Nansha Bridge. A crew member experienced a sudden stroke and was urgently transported to the hospital for further treatment.
At 8:04 AM, the Nansha Maritime Office received an emergency notification from the Guangzhou Maritime Bureau about the situation aboard the vessel “Guigang Hangtai XXXX.” The condition of the crew member was dire, and immediate medical assistance was required.
In response to the emergency, the Nansha Maritime Office quickly activated its “Crew Medical Assistance Hotline” protocol, dispatching the patrol vessel “Hai Xun 09118” to the specified area. They established communication with the ship’s crew to monitor the vessel’s location and the injured crew member’s condition in real time. Simultaneously, they contacted Nansha Central Hospital to arrange for an ambulance to be on standby at the maritime dock for the transport of the injured crew member.
By 8:30 AM, “Hai Xun 09118” arrived at the targeted location. After successfully docking, the crew swiftly and orderly transferred the injured crew member to the enforcement vessel, setting course for the nearby maritime dock. At 8:50 AM, the crew member was successfully transferred to the ambulance. Currently, he is receiving additional treatment at the hospital.
The Guangzhou Maritime Bureau would like to remind all vessel operators to prioritize safety during operations, and if unexpected incidents arise, to promptly call 12395 for assistance.
