Foreign media- The US -THAAD- anti-missile system has been put into use in Israel
Recent reports from the Times of Israel and the Jerusalem Post indicate that the THAAD missile defense system has been deployed in Israel. The reports suggest that approximately 100 U.S. military personnel are expected to operate the system, although Israeli officials have not yet confirmed this information.
This development follows the Pentagon’s announcement on October 13 that the U.S. would provide Israel with a THAAD system and send associated military personnel. Pentagon spokesperson Brigadier General Pat Ryder stated that this action is aimed at bolstering Israel’s air defense capabilities in light of missile attacks from Iran on April 13 and October 1.
The Pentagon also noted that this is not the first time the THAAD system has been deployed in the Middle East. Following the Hamas attacks on Israel on October 7, President Biden ordered the deployment of a THAAD system to the region. In fact, the U.S. had previously provided a THAAD system to Israel back in 2019.
