Ningxia’s foreign trade volume in the first three quarters was 14.87 billion yuan, and its wolfberry export volume ranked first in the country.
On October 25, a reporter from China News Service spoke with officials at the Yinchuan Customs, who provided an update on Ningxia’s international trade for the first three quarters of this year. According to the report, the total value of imports and exports from Ningxia reached 14.87 billion yuan, with September alone seeing double-digit growth in both imports and exports.
When examining the trade methods, general trade accounted for nearly 90% of the total. In the first three quarters of this year, Ningxia’s imports and exports through general trade amounted to 13.1 billion yuan, making up 88.1% of the overall trade value. Additionally, processing trade recorded an impressive 233.6% increase, totaling 1.11 billion yuan and representing 7.5% of the trade.
In terms of trade partnerships, there has been a steady diversification of markets, with ASEAN, the EU, and the US emerging as Ningxia’s three largest trading partners.
Despite a gradual narrowing of the decline in foreign trade value, Ningxia’s advantageous industries continued to experience rapid growth. Among the top exported goods, organic chemicals, electromechanical products, and agricultural products accounted for 2.56 billion yuan, 1.29 billion yuan, and 1.23 billion yuan, respectively. Notably, the export of specialty agricultural products hit new highs, with exports of Ningxia’s cool-season vegetables, wine, goji berries, and frozen potatoes showing year-on-year growths of 8.9%, 47.5%, 7.1%, and 17.3%. Goji berry exports maintained the top position in the country for similar products.
A representative from Yinchuan Customs commented, “The current internal and external environment has become increasingly complex and severe. However, the favorable conditions for our economy, including a robust market with vast potential and resilience, remain unchanged. Ningxia is actively engaged in a ‘100-day battle’ to achieve its annual development goals. Overall, the positive factors in Ningxia’s foreign trade currently outweigh the negative ones, and we expect confidence in a rebound in import and export stability to strengthen further before the end of the year.”
