Xia Baolong meets with HSBC Group Chairman Du Jiaqi and his delegation

On October 18th, in Beijing, Xia Baolong, the Director of the Central Coordination Office for Hong Kong and Macau Affairs and the Head of the State Council’s Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office, met with a delegation led by Mark Tucker, the Chairman of HSBC Group.

During the meeting, Xia expressed his admiration for HSBC’s confidence in the development of China and Hong Kong, noting the bank’s long-term vision and proactive involvement in the economic development of both the mainland and Hong Kong. He reinforced the importance of unwaveringly implementing the “One Country, Two Systems” policy, emphasizing that this fundamental national policy has never changed and will not change.

Xia assured that the central government will continue to fully support Hong Kong in maintaining its unique status and advantages, striving to uphold a free, open, and regulated business environment. He expressed hopes that HSBC would continue to leverage its strengths to actively engage in China’s high-quality development and high-level opening up, contributing significantly to Hong Kong’s prosperity.

Zhou Ji, Deputy Director in charge of daily operations at the Central Coordination Office for Hong Kong and Macau Affairs and the State Council’s Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office, also attended the meeting.
