-Traveling Shaanxi with Cultural Museums- and cultural and creative industry chain promotion activities were held
On September 29, Baoji City in Shaanxi Province hosted the “Explore Shaanxi through Cultural Heritage” event, designed to promote the creative transformation and innovative development of China’s exceptional traditional culture. This initiative, organized by the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism in collaboration with the Baoji Municipal Government, aims to boost the cultural tourism sector and enhance offerings in the cultural and tourism consumption market.
In an interview, Baoji’s Mayor, Wang Yong, shared his enthusiasm for the city’s rich historical legacy, stunning natural landscapes, and vast tourism resources. He expressed Baoji’s commitment to enhancing the protection and utilization of its cultural heritage while deeply exploring the multifaceted values of Chinese traditional culture. Mayor Wang pointed out the distinctive advantages provided by Zhou-Qin culture and Bronze Age heritage in fostering creative transformation and innovative growth. He emphasized the need for improved preservation and utilization of cultural relics, the active implementation of revitalization projects for these artifacts, and the acceleration of Baij’s development as a museum city. Furthermore, he envisions the establishment of a modern cultural and creative industry system that would significantly contribute to the creation of a trillion-yuan cultural tourism industry cluster.
Du Jingen, a prominent member of the party leadership and deputy director of the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, acknowledged the province’s cultural creative industry is displaying notable leadership and vibrant integration. However, he also mentioned several challenges, including fierce market competition, outdated technology, and a talent shortage. Du outlined future efforts, such as increasing support for chain enterprises, enhancing financial backing, and nurturing small to medium-sized cultural creative businesses. He also discussed plans to attract investment and foster cooperation among government, banks, and businesses. Additionally, he highlighted the potential of digital tourism products—like immersive experiences, VR/AR, and metaverse offerings—to strengthen the cultural creative sector.
During the event, the Baoji Opera Theater showcased a performance of “Shehu,” while the Baoji Arts Theater presented “Zhou Song” and “What is China,” enriching the cultural ambiance of the gathering. Attendees were delighted by exhibits highlighting award-winning entries from the “Good Gifts from Shaanxi” competition, along with cultural creative products, intangible heritage crafts, and tourism goods from the city’s twelve districts.
Before the main event, participants toured various cultural venues and creative parks throughout Baoji, including the Baoji Bronze Museum and the Baoji Qin Opera Museum. This experience provided valuable insights into the city’s journey in cultural creativity, museum management, and the high-quality development of its cultural industry.
