Scholars from home and abroad gathered in Wuhan to discuss the opening up of high-level education to the outside world

On October 23, the 24th China Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs Development Conference, specifically focusing on international education cooperation, took place in Wuhan. Experts and scholars from countries including the UK, Germany, Canada, Singapore, and Malaysia gathered to share their international education experiences under the theme “Collaboration and Win-Win: Energizing High-Level Educational Openness.” Throughout the event, several collaboration intentions for Sino-foreign exchange projects were established.

Hubei is recognized as a significant educational province and places great importance on international cooperation and exchange in education. According to data from the Hubei Provincial Department of Education, universities in Hubei have partnered with institutions from 15 countries to run 103 high-quality cooperative education projects. Additionally, over 300 educational institutions across the province employ more than 3,000 foreign teachers and experts, and approximately 22,000 international students from 176 countries study at Hubei universities annually.

Zhou Qihong, Deputy Director of the Hubei Provincial Department of Education, highlighted the province’s commitment to advancing digital education to empower international curriculum development and training for international students, as well as promoting international Chinese language education. Hubei aims to establish itself as a nationally recognized platform for educational openness and has plans to enhance the “Hubei-Africa” educational technology cooperation exchange mechanism. The province will also maintain its collaborative momentum with partners in areas such as Ohio in the U.S. and Brest in Belarus, and promote practical cooperation through platforms like the “Hubei-Kansai Education Dialogue” and the “China Hubei-Korea Friendship Week.”

During the conference, the Hubei Provincial Department of Education formed cooperation agreements with the Malaysian Examinations Council and nine pairs of institutions, including Jianghan University and the University of Applied Sciences in Bielefeld, Germany, finalizing agreements through both online and offline formats.
