Post-season competition- Who is better-
The MLB playoffs kicked off on October 1st, with 12 teams from the American League (AL) and National League (NL) participating in this thrilling event.
In the AL, the top three seeds are the New York Yankees, Cleveland Guardians, and Houston Astros.
Over in the NL, the leading teams are the Los Angeles Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies, and Milwaukee Brewers.
The first stage of the AL Wild Card games features the Houston Astros hosting the Detroit Tigers, while the Baltimore Orioles are set to battle the Kansas City Royals at home.
In the NL, the Wild Card matchups include the New York Mets visiting the Milwaukee Brewers and the San Diego Padres taking on the Atlanta Braves.
This year’s Wild Card series, played in a best-of-three format, concluded on October 3rd, with the Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, San Diego Padres, and New York Mets securing their spots in the next round.
A total of 12 teams will compete in the playoffs, made up of division champions from each league and those earning Wild Card berths. The division champions represent the top teams from the AL and NL East, West, and Central divisions, seeded as the top three.
The Wild Card spots are awarded to the three teams with the highest winning percentages that did not win their respective divisions, seeded as the fourth, fifth, and sixth entrants. Overall, six teams from both leagues compete for the championship title.
Seeds one and two from both leagues receive a bye in the first round, while the four and five seeds, along with the three and six seeds, will face off in the Wild Card Series, also played in a best-of-three format.
The two winning teams from the Wild Card Series will then advance to the Division Series, where they will compete in a best-of-five format against the top two seeds. Winners of those matchups will progress to the League Championship Series, played in a best-of-seven format, and the victors there will move on to the World Series.
The champion of this year’s World Series is expected to be crowned by November 2nd at the latest.
