In a recent interview regarding the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, highlighted the European Union’s initiative to establish a humanitarian airbridge aimed at delivering crucial aid to Lebanon. She shared this development on social media, emphasizing the EU’s unwavering support for those affected by the crisis in the region.

Von der Leyen mentioned that initial flights carrying aid are set to depart from Italy and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, with the first cargo expected to arrive in Beirut on October 11. She detailed the variety of assistance being provided, stating, “From blankets to shelter kits and medical supplies, we will deliver more.”

In light of the escalating violence, the EU recently announced a substantial increase in humanitarian aid funding, raising it by 30 million euros. This decision comes after intensified Israeli operations against Hezbollah, which have tragically led to the deaths of approximately 1,150 individuals and displaced over a million people since September 23.
