Chinese Drama Association Cao Yu’s Drama Literature Lecturer’s Group Draft Revision Meeting (Second Issue) Launched
On October 16, the China Association of Theatre Artists officially launched the second session of the Cao Yu Drama Literature Workshop in Nanjing, organized by the editorial department of the journal “Script.”
This workshop serves as a new brand initiative following the “Our Mountains and Rivers” series, primarily aimed at enhancing scriptwriting quality and expanding the influence of award-winning playwrights. It also focuses on fostering the growth of young playwrights in the new era by providing a professional and expansive platform for exchange between seasoned experts and emerging talents.
Notably, this marks the first time the workshop has been held specifically in a single province since its establishment. The event welcomed nine mentors from the Cao Yu Drama Literature team to offer guidance and engage in discussions. Liu Pengchun, a mentor, two-time Cao Yu Award winner, and playwright from Jiangsu, expressed that “such activities awaken the creative inspiration of talented authors and elevate their aesthetic standards.”
The workshop was held in conjunction with the Jiangsu Provincial Drama Literature Creation Institute’s 2024 evaluation and exchange event for key authors and works in Jiangsu, with a total of 25 participants attending, including auditors. The format of the workshop organized discussions by genre, allowing for in-depth exploration, interaction, and enhancement of each selected script. Additionally, mentors and participants were given the opportunity to observe the opening ceremony of the Zijin Arts Festival and partake in a symposium, all with the aim of promoting comprehensive training for young dramatic creators.
